Adult pets rock too!

Old dogs, like old shoes, are comfortable. They might be a bit out of shape and a little worn around the edges, but they fit well.

Thinking of getting a pet? Consider getting an adult cat or dog (above three years old) because the SPCA says they make good pets too:

· What you see is what you get. Their personalities are developed and they know who they are.

· You don’t have to go through the chewing or curtain climbing stage, as young ones are prone to do. You also won’t have to go through the experience of having sleepless nights as puppies and kittens, just like babies, whine and cry.

· You can be sure of the pet’s full size and overall appearance as an adult.

· Older pets are typically calmer and more settled into life. This makes them more appreciative of your love and attention.

It may take an older pet a little longer to adapt to new situations and environments but they can, they do and they will!

If you are considering adopting a pet, consider the plight of an older dog or cat. While cute is nice, older is wiser!

The SPCA is currently running its No More Homeless Pets adoption drive until Dec 31. The shelter is open to the public daily from 9am-4pm (weekends and public holidays included).

Every pet adopted during this period will receive a gift pack sponsored generously by Iams and Eukanuba.
