Dear SPCA

Late March I adopted a kitten through your SPCA booth at BSC. She was 6 months old then and a cuddly ball of mischief. I’ve had her for a few months now and have enjoyed every waking (cause there are a lot of those when you have a hyperactive kitten) moment with her. She’s a rascal for sure, but also a very lovable healthy furball. J I would like to applaud the organization in their relentless effort to save and protect animals in a society where spaying and neutering is not a norm. The animals at the SPCA are healthy and well taken care off and I would encourage others who are seeking a pet to visit the SPCA. You might just fall in love!

We adopted Chewie, a 2 month old pup, from PAWS in 1994, after our Spitz puppy, Fluffy, passed away due to an illness.

I have practically grown up with her and she's brought me so much joy. She's now 12 years old, and is as beautiful and healthy as ever.

In December 2003, our other Spitz went missing. My sister was so upset, that 2 weeks later, we found ourselves back at PAWS adopting an adorable little puppy who looked like a German Shepherd. We named her 'Sprite', (which means 'Fairy') due to her cheeky nature.

Sprite is a handful at times, but she's so sweet and social, and so smart, she sometimes outsmarts us!

Our Spitz miraculously made it back home in April 2004, and Sprite found herself another playmate!

They've become a huge part of our family, and my mum even refers to them as her 'Children'. I can't imagine how life would be without them.

Thank you, SPCA & PAWS for putting a smile back on our faces, just when we were in so much pain from losing a pet.

Sharmela & Radhika,
Kuala Lumpur.

Dear SPCA and all animal lovers,

Back in 1998, we adopted a cross Cairn Terrier from PAWS with the help of a dear friend. We named her Emma because her ears are like two tied up bunch of hairs, just like the singer Emma Bunton from Spice Girls (big hit back then). When she first entered our lives, she was having severe lung infection. But just like any other animals who receive loving kindness, she eventually got better and now, at the age of 9, she is still an active little dog. Our whole family love her to bits! Support the petition!

Love,
Herman & Helen

We just want to thank SPCA for doing a great job. We went there a couple of months back. The first visit ended up with us hooked on a cat we called Sidney (at that moment named Simba). We adopted Sidney and frankly speaking, it changed our life. We never felt this happy. The name Sidney is taken from the character Sid in Ice Age. Well, the name says it all. Sidney brings the cheer in our life. He likes to run around the house, playing on the bed and one thing that he's good at.. waking us up at 7 a.m every morning, to feed him.

A few months after that, we felt that Sid might need a companion. So, we went back to SPCA with Sid to find a companion for him. At last, we adopted Gabrielle. A very beautiful mix persian. Well, the name Gabrielle (previously known as Manja) is from Gabrielle Solis (Desperate Housewives) because she deserved it. Finally, a companion for Sidney. The went along very well. However, Gabrielle managed to sneak out on the second day we adopted her. Thank God, a few hours after that, she showed up at our front door. Phew!

When things are going very good, something struck us. Sidney left us. He was infected with FeLV (Feline leukimia) and Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). There is no cure for it. It was a very heartbroken moment for us. Sid is a very unique cat to us. The day came when Sid really left us for good. Personally, it's like losing a son or daughter. We have done our best but it's fate that decides. May he have a better life on the other world. We miss you and will always love u.

Upon the departure of Sidney, we tend to not let it happen to Gabrielle. Thankfully, Gabrielle is in good health. whenever we came back from work, she'll be there waiting for us when we open the door. Anyway, that is my story so far. We really want to thank SPCA for all the effort they put. Keep up the good work!

We managed to set up a few blogs for the cats to share our moments with eveybody interested. Thanks.

Dear SPCA Sucess Stories,

Thank you for the lovely gorgeous divine Mz. Molly-Ann. She joined the Lin family at the end of Oct 2006, and is now a beautiful, very self-assured and strong-willed 11 month old pup. Molly-Ann rules the home and adores her Aunties Comet & Flash, who do find her a hand-full at times. Would love to see Molly-Ann as a SPCA success story, for herself.

Please find two attached photos of Molly-Ann.

Thank you.

Dear SPCA;

Can't thank you enough for taking care of all the animals under your shelter. I adopted "Handsome" in early 2001 because he was the loudest there - almost roaring every time my son and I passed him by. Plus I've always had a thing for orange/ginger tabby cats.

He's grown to some 7kg but is still very active and naughty for a cat who's around 7 or 8 years old. As seen in this picture, he loves the challenge of climbing trees but last Saturday night he wasn't so lucky. He got stuck in between the branches and was too scared to slide down, and the tree was a good 15 feet high!! As a last resort I sought help from a security guard in my area who managed to climb the tree as well. But Handsome grew very fierce and actually flew off the tree in an instant!

I can't tell you enough how much I love and adore this cat; it's like he was meant to be mine. Now that my son is away in boarding school, Handsome is the only "child" I have and he keeps me company. Yesterday I came home to be greeted by both him and a half-dead "mengkarung" which he somehow dragged into the house and turned into his toy. He sleeps on his half of my bed every night and wakes me up every morning by 6:45 a.m without fail!!!

Thank you for doing such an honorable job of protecting these cats and dogs from abusers and the like. And thank you for Handsome too!

I've adopted A-MAO(in mandarin, mean Cat)in the year of 2001. The reason I chosen her as my pet is because she have a lovely blue eyes.Maybe you would think that I did not give her a lovely name but I believe in giving pet a normal name will prolong thier lives...it is a little bit superstitious, I know.....but I really hope that she will grow healthy and have a long live, haha.

She has been a good company for me and bring a lots of joy to my life. She is very "manja"and really stick to me. A-MAOs vey inteligent, she will remind me to fill her food and water when her bowls are empty by sitting next to her empty bowl.

I wanna thank SPCA to let me have A-MAO. Actually A-MAO is more than a pet to me.She is just like my friend forever. Hereby, I urged those who would like to have pet and sincerely will take care of them through their whole life do consider to adopt one of them from SPCA.It is more meaningful if you could bring one of our speechless friend from there as they really need a home and love. As you know adoption is much more meaningful than a transaction, you are actuallly getting a friend for life, not buying them home for nothing.

Always remember that, you may have everything in this world , but you are the only one your pet have in this world.

Dear SPCA,

We adopted this cute cat last year 19 February 2005. When we adopted the cat, she didn't have a name, thus, we named her pak pak (100 in cantonese). The first day we brought her back, she is a bit scared and does not feel very comfortable.

We let her stayed in our living room, and when we turn on the fan, she keeps staring on the fan, as though she never seen a fan or a moving fan before! She was quite thin when we first adopted her, now, look at the picture that we took on 25 Feb 2006 after
we adopted her, she apparently put on weight a lot. Now, we called her "fei pak" means "fat 100". 100 only like to eat a type cat food with triangle shape from iams. 100 won't eat anything other than her triangle cat food. We tried to give her chicken meat, fish, and other food, but she just fall in love with triangle shape only and very faithful to "triangle".

We even tried to mix other type of cat foods (from different manufacturer), and guess what, 100 choose one by one so that she
only eat the triangle cat food. If don't give her the triangle cat food, she will protest and won't eat even very hungry. So, we give up and let her eat triangle cat food only. What we afraid is that one day when there is no more supply of the triangle cat food from the market, 100 will die of starvation :) (just kidding) 100 always like to sleep in a box, just like a baby. Sometimes, 100 wake us up at 7.00 am so that we can give her her "triangle". And 100 sleeps with us. Something very strange about 100, she won't catch mouse, but instead she likes to catch croackcoaches, insects and even birds! Sometimes, 100 stares at the birds on our roof and meow
meow several times, seems like she wants to play with the birds:) We really like 100 and we thanks SPCA for giving us the opportunity to save 100. ~ clement tham

I adopted ‘Crystal’ a cocker spaniel last year November 2005 for my son’s birthday,we felt in love with her during the 1st sight.

We have another Shih Tzu ‘ Chewie’ at home and Crystal was an additional member of the family. I must thank Reve for explaining everything she knew about Crystal and that help a lot without needing to ponder, we immediately adopt her. She is very kind and good with kids, exactly what Reve had described. She jumps and greets after my son Lucas return from school and us returning from work. Crystal is also a good companion to ‘Chewie’. Adopt your dogs in SPCA if you are looking forward to have an additional member in your family. ~ Charles

Last December (2005), my mom took me to SPCA to adopt a kitten as a
christmas present. There were lots of adorable and unique looking cats but i
was particularly drawn to this 3 month old kitten. He looked exactly like
Puss in Boots from Shrek2. Immediately i knew that i was taking him home.My dad who isn't exactly a "cat-person" took us all by suprise when he couldn't take his eyes off the kitten. He just loved the little fella. We ended up naming him Muffins which was my dad's idea.

Muffins has brought lots of joy into my family. His naughty antiques never
ceases to make us laugh everytime. Although he was skinny and looked really thin when we took him home, he has managed to gain weight ever since. It's been a month now and he has adapted to our home quite well. I'm so grateful for having him in my life.

Dear SPCA,
At the end of the 2003, after pondering long and hard, we finally adopted a cross breed from SPCA Ampang. I named her Reyyee Tan, who was meant as a Christmas present for my husband. It was challenging at the beginning as she was sick all the time and that went on for months. We were worried that she wouldn’t make it at some point. But looking at her now, she is a far cry from the piles of bones that she was. We love her to bits and she is the Queen of our Hearts.

Best Rgds,
Nancy

Dear SPCA,

Thank you.

About 1 year ago, we adopted a dog named 'Baby' and after we took her home we renamed her ' Bambi'. She's now happy and healthy.

Our neighbour's dog used to play with Bambi but unfortunately they shifted. We thought that she would be lonely after losing her friend and we adopted another puppy from a friend, named puppy 'Daisy'.

Here's their photo.

My deepest gratitude for letting us adopt Bambi.

Thanks.

regards,
billy

I adopted my cat from spca in August 2004, at first my wife & i were walking in the cat compund, i had no idea which cat to adopt since they all look cute & beautiful. Then this cat came to the fence & meow at my wife :) my wife said this is the one :) so we

We adopted Cathy from Selangor Prevention Cruelty of Association (SPCA), three years ago, as a birthday present from my boyfriend. She was a little timid and skinny when we first took her home. After weeks, she settled in comfortably and would not push us away when we hug her. She enjoys durians and mangoes which makes her different from any other cats. Her uniqueness wits
us, and we have placed her as an extraordinary cat deep in our hearts. She is so charming and adorable that we truly cannot imagine our lives without her. We are thankful that we have found her through SPCA.

Hello spca,

A few years ago, our family decided to get another dog as our older dog, Two tone, was in need of a companion (and a friend to walk with).

So mum decided to go to the SPCA to adopt a pup. At the last minute, we spotted Chloe, who just woke up from a nice slumber and decided to tag along with the bunch to sucker up to potential owners. We were drawn to her by her eyes so we decided to take her home with us. When we adopted her, the lady at the desk said that she was going to be an angel. What she didn’t know is that Chloe grew up to be an extremely mischievous dog who chewed up our sofa and ate up mums plants! But, she brought a lot of laughter to the family and is a great companion to our Two tone. (shes losing weight coz of Chloe!) We love her to bits! Thanks SPCA!

Hello there,
We are among the pet lovers who adopted a kitten back in December 28th,2004. We went to PAWS to have a look at one of the cats and while we were browsing, we saw this one tiny kitten that came towards us. We knew that she's the one that we will adopt. Annabelle Raj was so small at that time that we was so scared that we might hurt her..but as days passed by,
she grew up and have been very beautiful,adorable,clever,naughty,playful,charming..too much to say about her. However, one thing we could admit that, she is our bestfriend. She is 9
mths now, we neutered her 2 mths back and after that , she put on weight. The vet said that she is very healthy. Thanks SPCA and PAWS for making my dream comes true.

This is Teddy, adopted December last year (2004). He’s one in a million. He’s very intelligent and naughty cat. When it comes to food he would behaved and really touched your heart, even tho after that he will become like he use too that is naughty but he really got the ways to catch a soft spot in your heart. I love him so much and he is very comfortable of where he is now. :)

This is my lovable girl Trisha. I adopted her form the SPCA on 20th September 2003. I needed a companian so the only place that came to my mind was the SPCA. She is loving, playful, and she guards the house when no one is around. Indeed she is very alert at all times. When I brought her from the SPCA she was so skinny and I used to carry her around. Now she has put on lots of weight and I can barely carry her : - )
She loves to go for car rides. Whenever the car door is open, she just hoops in. I'm very grateful for having her as my pet. My niece and nephews love her very much.

This is Charan and we adopted him from Ampang Jaya SPCA 3 years ago. He’s almost 4 years old. He had two owners previously and they both decided to send him back to the SPCA. I must admit, he was quite a handful in the beginning. Wrecked everything. We would come home from school or work and see what looked like the remainders of a twister. But we loved him too much to give up, and after some disciplining and training and some adjustments on our part, we have a Charan we adore. He has become a part of our lives so much that we often find ourselves missing him when we go out. He never seems to tire of us and greets us like we have been away for ten years everytime we come back home, even if it’s only for a few minutes. We want to say, we love our doggy, and are glad we didn’t give up on him.

~Thivya~

Our family adopted Caesar from the SPCA in June 2004 after we lost Freckles and Patches, a pair of twin Spitz sisters, to renal failure. Freckles and Patches were adopted from the SPCA 11 years ago and were the princesses of the family until they passed on in early 2004.

Caesar was an unusually timid, quiet and lethargic 1 ½ year-old Labrador Retriever when we first saw him at the SPCA. That was when we learnt that someone else who had initially adopted him gave him up as he was suffering from heartworms! For those who do not know, Heartworm Disease is a serious disease that can cause irreversible organ damage and is potentially fatal. Heartworm larvae are transmitted through mosquito bites and any dog that is not on heartworm prevention is susceptible to this disease.

Caesar caught our hearts and we decided to make him a member of our family. Dr. Pushpa and Dr. Lim successfully treated Caesar's heartworms and we were able to bring him home after 1 ½ months. Caesar has since changed from a timid and quiet boy into a boisterous but an extremely loving retriever. He is now the 'prince' of the household (and certainly BEHAVES like one too!!) and has, in turn, adopted Cleo, a 9-month-old stray kitten, as his 'princess'.

In addition to sharing the above, we would also like to spread awareness of Heartworm Disease and urge all dog owners to practice the necessary precautions. Heartworm prevention is readily available at veterinary clinics and pet stores and is relatively inexpensive. Many Internet websites also provide useful information on Heartworm Disease, one of which is www.animalclinic.com. Before pet owners turn a blind eye on Heartworm Disease, please be reminded that it can permanently affect your pet's quality of life and is typically a disease where prevention is better than cure.

Dear SPCA,

Thank you for providing shelter and food to those who cannot speak and more importantly, a chance for a better life. On a more personal note, thank you for bringing to our family Freckles, Patches and Caesar.

This is Misty. She came into our lives from SPCA Ampang 3 years or more ago. It has been a wonderful journey with her and we look forward to many more years together. Misty brings a lot of joy into our lives with her quirkiness and eccentricity (reminds us of ourselves)...and she's kinda the boss when it comes to choosing the perfect seat in the condo.

Thank you SPCA for giving her and others a chance for a better life. Thumbs up!

Dear SPCA,

I would like to share my story and hope to share with others who wanted a pet in their lives. I love animals and therefore, on May 22nd 2001 which is 2 days before my birthday, I went to SPCA in order to look for a pet cat. The moment I saw Wesley, a ginger-white kitten which is approx 3 months plus old, i fell in love with him. He is very friendly and rubbing himself at the cage asking for attention. I had to begged with the kakak in charge to hold the kitten and he is just so adorable. I decided to bring him home coz I know he deserves more attention. In the car, he meowed quite loud. I guessed it was his first ride in a car and in a paper box as well. As any cat owners will do 1st thing introducing a cat in a home, is the toilet n thank god Wesley had no problem with it.

I had Wesley for 2 years before I decided that I could share my love to another cat n so, I went back to SPCA on July 2003 and again, the 1st time I laid my eye on Casper, I fell in love with him. He got that very 'manja' look (yeap.. just like those in Puss in Boots in Shrek 2) which I could not resist to take him home. When I saw him, he is a bit vocal n rubbing himself at the cage but the moment I stroke his body, he quiet down and start purring. But there is a catch. He is not neutered and I heard that cat's behaviour might change before and after being neutered but I took the chance since as I mentioned, I just could not resist the looks of his face. I paid the deposit and I could only claimed him 2 weeks later.

2 weeks past n I went back to SPCA n when I saw Casper, he is not so vocal and active as the first time I saw him. I was a bit taken down but when I spent a bit of time with him, he started to regain his composers and started to rub his body on my hand. He even 'salam' my hand when i reached out my hand to him. I knew I have to take him home. It took 3 days for Wesley to accept Casper although Casper usually the one who initiated 1st contact with Wesley but Wesley 'jual mahal' by making the hissing sound. It was after the 3rd day, when I came back from work, I saw them running around chasing each other.

Up to today, I just can't keep my mind away from Casper and Wesley wherever I am.Taking both of them reminds me of the responsibility of a human to take care and show affections to animals. When I got a bigger house, I would take in more cats from SPCA coz they really need more attention and care the same way we care for our children. - Horatio

Six years ago, i made a tour at the SPCA Ampang and fell in love with a very lovely shy female persian mix named June. She caught my eyes the moment i looked at her and i know she wanted to come home with me too. I took her back, she was scared as it was a very new surrounding for her. She sleeps under my bed and refused to eat for 3 days. After much patience, she did come out from her hideout and ate like no other cat have ever eaten. Now, she's the queen of my house and having 3 feline friends she could kill her boredom with while i'm at work. She's been a joy to my kids and my family. If it weren't for SPCA, i wouldn't have had my beautiful passionate June in my life....Now she's 9 years old, and still strong and always being so adventurous......Thank you SPCA..... Rozita Abdul Halim

I adopted Jasper on November 23rd, 2001 from SPCA. Or should I say Jasper adopted me? Lol! ;D He was 3 years old at that time....cute as can be, full of spunk, and always very curious! But, don't let the sweet face fool you! He was really smart and learned quickly. I taught him how to lay down, sit, and shake hand. I was carried away a little when trying to teach him how to count! Jasper is a very smart, obedient and hyperactive dog. Everytime when I reached home, he knew and would wait in front of the house eagerly to meet me and sometimes, he even would sneak out through a small opening in the lower of my gate! He is also very good dog, for being a small dog, he never bites or snaps things like shoes or newspaper (not like some small dogs). Jasper keeps us on our toes, and everyday is a new adventure in the family :-) He mean so much to me, I would feel so empty without him. I wouldn't feel regreting at all adopting him from SPCA! ~Karyn~

I adopted Max from SPCA (Ampang) in July 2003. He was a skinny and shy puppy when we first brought him home. Six months later, at almost a year old (I think), he is a classic example of a mutt with no interest in new tricks. He still has the puppy-like enthusiasm that motivates him to jump up and try to lick the face of any new person/animal within his reach, which, while quite adorable, is also quite intimidating to people small enough for him to knock off their feet. Getting him to obey any order to refrain requires getting his attention, and though I had long recognised his non-responsiveness to commands in the presence of strangers, beef jerky and tennis balls always come in handy. Albeit his stubborness and naughtiness, he's too loveable to resist! :)

Regards,
Lynn

I adopted a cross terrier (Kiki Nicole Choa) in 2001 from SPCA. She was a very depressed dog, skinny, scruffy and almost a mute (because she was so depressed she refused to bark). It was just the right company for me as I was suffering from major depression too. I spent weeks showering her with tender loving care and gave her intensive training and turned out that Kiki is a real talent and has a wonderful temperament. She is now part of the family and my "eldest" daughter (I just delivered a baby girl). Kiki has also won us many prizes- 2 best dressed competitions, the champion for puppython and runner up for fastest recall! She can also perform the basic tricks like sit, stay and shake hand. And believe it or not, she babysits my daughter who is now 6 months old! And I am no longer a depressed person! I owe this to SPCA. Thanks so much. - Patricia Lau

We adopted a 2yr old German Shepherd Dog(GSD) named Robin about a month ago from the Ampang SPCA. After one month he has adjusted to his new "forever home" very well, in fact better than expected. I take him for morning walks everyday around our neighbourhood in Gombak. He his quite playful but very obedient. He can now "sit" when ask to (for treats of course :) ) and I am him to do other tricks as well. We are a firm believer of positive training methods and hope all pet owners around the world do likewise. I am a first time owner of a GSD and am getting a lot of help from the best GSD forum website in the world at http://www.germanshepherds.com.

If you wish to buy a pet, we urge you to seriously consider getting one from SPCA or any shelter in your area, as these are the animals that need someone like you to rescue them. You must visit this non-profit website at http://www.itsmeowornever.org/homeless.html. Visit Robin at http://www.geocities.com/mydogrobin . - PAUL

I adopted Manja from SPCA Ampang as a belated birthday present to myself on 18 April 2001. I chose her after observing that she's a loner. I still remembered that day. She was sitting on top of one of the shelves looking at me regally. I went over to her and asked if she wanted to follow me home. She meowed, jumped down and waited at the gate. She's a part of my small family and I can say, the owner of our apartment. She's so adorable and my husband and I love her so much. Thanks SPCA, for being there for her in her time of need. - SHARINA

I adopted a tabby cat from SPCA in March 2003. Prior to bringing her home, it took me two weeks to find a suitable name for her. After much searching on the Internet, Eiko seems to be just the right fit. Attached are snapshots of Eiko, one couldn't believe how much she's grown in just couple of months. A couple of months back, she was really a tiny and skinny kitten. Despite being extremely naughty (enjoys climbing, scratching furnitures, etc), she's very much loved by everyone including my parents (dog lovers). Every day is special with her presence.

I adopted Kuzzee in 2001 and Kiddee in 2002 from SPCA in Ampang. They were both skinny when I got them. Look at them now. Kuzzee is now 4 yrs (black & white fur) and Kiddee is 2 yrs old. As you can see they're really enjoying their life (eat-sleep-play-eat). They're really adorable and we love them so much. They've become our most precious "babies".Thanks for taking good care of them while they're at the Shelter. - Rita Amin

I adopted a black male kitten last Saturday from the shelter. George now rules my apartment and has top priority to warm, comfy spots on the sofa. I just want to thank the kind people of SPCA for their previous care on George. He's an amazingly loving cat and my partner and I simply adore him. Thanks! - Edna

I adopted a mongrel from the Ampang SPCA in August 2001and named him Roy. Roy is now a well loved member of my family, as well as among the neighbours. He's fun and very good natured. Everyone in my family loves him, and he spares no one of any affection whatsoever. Thank you, SPCA. We really appreciate what you are doing, for the canines as well as for us! Attached is a close-up pic of Roy.

We took Rebel home just before Chinese New Year 2003 and he was just a skinny little pup then. Rebel's name was given by his previous owner and I know why this lovely pup was given such a name. Before the 1st week was up since being adopted by my mum and I, we had lost several underwears, 8 pairs of slippers & shoes, plants and T-shirts to his favourite pastime, biting anything that came his way. Nevertheless, we love him just as much and have come to accept him as part of the family. We have since named him Falcor which we hope he will be just as faithful (Falcor was the flying, faithful dog in the Neverending story). As you can see today, he has grown to be a very beautiful dog, being accepted into a place he can call "his home".
